Biography

Dr. Clara Haneul Yoon is a violinist, researcher, and educator whose interdisciplinary career bridges performance, scholarship, and community engagement. Recognized for her artistic versatility, her performances have been celebrated in publications such as New York Magazine as “Extraordinary technique… she can do anything she wants,” and by Seoul Culture & Arts Magazine as “Truly virtuosic, with amazing mastery of tone.”

An in-demand strings clinician, adjudicator, and performer, Dr. Yoon regularly serves as a guest artist and lecturer for institutions and festivals across North America and Asia. Her work includes engagements with the Juilliard School, Columbia University, Princeton University, the University of Toronto, Western University, and the Royal Conservatory of Music, where she frequently collaborates with students and faculty to support the artistic and pedagogical growth of emerging musicians and educators. Her research explores critical issues in music, including the role of subjectivity in performance practice, the impact of Asian diasporic identity in music pedagogy, and the development of policy-driven approaches to advance access to equitable music education in public schools.

Dr. Yoon’s academic foundations include a Bachelor’s and Master of Music from The Juilliard School and a Doctorate from Columbia University, where her dissertation was generously supported by the Enid & Lester Morse Fellowship. Her research has garnered recognition from leading organizations, including the 2022 NAMM Foundation President’s Innovation Award for advancing accessible music education initiatives. Currently, she serves as the Chair of Music Performance for the College Music Society’s 2025 National Conference, curating programming that highlights interdisciplinary collaboration.
